The most important 3 months in the last 20 years!

I just had a conversation with one of the most important leaders in the real estate industry – a gentleman who has tens of thousands agents in many parts of the world. Without any knowledge of what of our Buffini initiatives for 2009 might be, he asked me what I was planning on doing for the first quarter of next year.

When I asked him why, he said he believed that the first four months of 2009 were as important as any time period in the last 20 years…that so many brokers and agents could continue to have long-standing careers in this industry if they could just find a way to have a good start to the year.

When I explained to him about the upcoming Buffini & Company Blitz, he almost shouted over the phone to me, “How can I get all my people involved in this?” to which I responded, “If they’re not Members we can't help them." I don’t tell you this to self-aggrandize our initiatives or myself but just to let you know how confirming it is when an industry leader affirmed our timing for the Blitz.

As a ClubNet or Referral Systems Member, this exclusive program is absolutely free for you to participate in. We’ve put a huge amount of our resources behind this because we want you to have a good first quarter, stay in business, build market share and be one of the great professionals who come out on the other side of this recession with a great business.

This is my Christmas gift to all of you.

It’s a good life!

Are you Blitzing today?

That’s the hue and cry of Buffini & Company for the next three months. The way to meet and beat a recession is with action. We are launching, on Jan 15th, a 90-day action plan for all our Members. Our goal is that our Members will participate in a concentrated effort over this designated period of time to create a spike in activity that leads to immediate results.

In this Blitz we’ve included a list of daily, weekly and monthly activities, a pledge of commitment and along with that, Buffini & Company is throwing its whole support behind you.

This Blitz is a value-added free service to all our existing Members. To commit to The Blitz, visit the Members Area and accept the pledge so you can be a participant in a program stay in business, have a good quarter and finish the year strong. The Blitz Master is none other than the great Joe Niego. I myself have made a commitment to drop 20 lbs during this Blitz period to try to lead by example.

I’ll be Blitzing my workouts and nutrition program to get my body healthier and helping you Blitz your lead-generation activities to get your business healthier.

In 2009 you’re either Blitzing or busting. So I have one question for you: are you Blitzing today?

It’s a good life!

A new paradigm for success

On my travels in this fourth quarter, I’ve bumped into a lot of people. When I ask them how they’re doing, they kind of look at the ground and sheepishly respond, “My business is down 10 or 15%.” Many times, I even get the feeling they think they’re letting me down. Well let me tell you something folks, if your business is down 15% but your local market is down 30% you are outperforming the market considerably...and you’re winning!

In times like this, it’s essential to have a new paradigm for success. Many people believe that in pursuing success you grow, your income grows and your numbers grow each and every year. That’s absolutely not true. In times like this you need to know what the average number of sales in your market is compared to last year, and compare your numbers to that. Now comparisons to other people are not always a good way to go but comparisons to the market are essential. Success in 2009 looks like this:

  1. Stay in business.
  2. Have a good first quarter.
  3. Use your first quarter momentum to finish the year strong.

That’s why we’re launching The Blitz on January 15th,  where we want all our Members to focus on specific daily activities to ensure you stay in business, have a great first quarter and finish the year strong.

It’s a good life!

We have a lot to be thankful for

I believe gratitude is the ultimate sign of an individual’s growth and development. If you think about it, when you’re raising your children you have to work really hard at getting them to say ‘thank you’. Ultimately what you’re doing is helping to give them perspective so they can stay grounded and show appreciation.

As adults it is very easy to lose perspective with all the challenges we face on a daily basis. Being in the business world we see the difficulties of our market and the challenges our clients face. It’s so easy to forget what we’re thankful for.

Yesterday while attending the Chargers football game here in San Diego, it was 72 degrees on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Yes, our team may stink, but there are a bunch of people in other parts of the country who are experiencing miserable weather yet here were all the San Diegans acting like someone had shot their dog!

This is one tiny example of hundreds we can come across each day.

Don’t get caught up in what’s going wrong; get caught up in what’s going right. What are you thankful for today? What are you thankful for right now? Maybe on finishing this blog you should make a list of the ten things you are most thankful for today. I promise you’ll have a better day. One of things I am grateful for is all of you and having the chance to serve in a time like this.

It’s a good life!
