Observations from the hot seat!

Greetings!

My name is David Lally and I work for Brian Buffini as his assistant. That means that everywhere he goes I go, everywhere he’s been I’ve been and today I’m at the Turning Point in Santa Clara. Brian has already done a couple of Turning Points earlier this year but today he finally got it! The event has emotion, intimacy, power and passion.

And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who thinks so.

He’s speaking to the crowd as if it were a conversation between two people…and this is one engaged audience. The feedback is tremendous and anyone I’ve spoken to today has been thrilled. There’s a new goal-writing section and powerful videos to engage and inspire (when I manage to not grind them to a halt – sorry Brian!). One thing I know, he’s on fire and back in the saddle.

For those of you who went before, go again! It really is the All-New Turning Point, and it started today in Santa Clara.

David Lally

It’s time to freak out!

If you watch the nightly news, listen to the politicians and surf the net on a regular basis, you might as well get it over with and have a complete and utter meltdown. Although I have a desire to be informed, do my research and stay current with the market trends, I’m developing an allergy to the media and the messages from these outlets. And as much as I try to stay positive and focus on my attitude, I found myself recently being surprised with good news.

I spoke with my contractor who informed me he’d been contacted in the last three weeks about building a couple of really large homes. And I found myself being surprised by that. The Blitzmaster himself Joe Niego and I went out to dinner last week at a cool little Italian restaurant in Carlsbad. When we asked the waiter how was business, we were prepared to provide compassion and empathy for their slowdown. “Business is really good,” he said, “we’re opening up next door to expand our capacity.” I hate to admit it but both of us were surprised. I talked to one of my staff this morning who sold a really nice car in two days on “craigslist.” Again, I was surprised. Why am I surprised? Because I’ve allowed the negative voices to creep in to my thinking and heard too much from the self-serving authors and media pundits who need drama to make money.

Is business booming like 05 and 06? Absolutely not and I hope we never see days like that again where people were taking equity loans at a record pace to spend money they didn’t have, on things they didn’t need to impress people they didn’t know. So yeah, it’s time to freak out. It’s time to get the messages from the freaked out media, the politicians and the pundits out of your head and life. As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. I choose the good, I see the best and I believe my best days and yours are still to come.

It’s a good life!

Beauty and The Blitz

“Maintaining the fundamentals and staying on track with lead-generation…when are those evil Buffini taskmasters going to let up? I’m exhausted from dropping in to see my best clients!”

I know none of you are really complaining about The Blitz activities because we see the results and read your emails every week. This lead-generation drive has been a staggering illustration of the benefits of staying the course and following the activities. Amy Boehm in Texas is just one example:

“It’s been a great couple of weeks. I am finally able to take a breath and send my email. The last two weeks we have put three of our listings under contract, closed two homes, written two contracts for our buyers, listed two homes today and have six more listings to do by March!

We have a little over $2.6Million scheduled to close by end of April. Thanks again for pushing us!”

The daily, weekly and monthly action steps we provided in The Blitz have been a roadmap to power through this first quarter. I told you we’d put the Buffini & Company shoulder to this effort and we’ve thrown the kitchen sink at it. The benefit to us? We’re hearing the stories, seeing the results and further building our relationships with you.

Remember, the definition for success in this market is not the same as it was last year or in years past. Research the average number of sales in your market, compare that number to last year’s and then compare your numbers to that. The landscape is a little different now. Your focus should be on staying in business, having a good first quarter and using that momentum to finish the year strong.

It’s a good life!

Time to spring into action.

If I spent my days reading the news and listening to talk radio I’m not fully convinced my mind wouldn’t turn to jelly. A couple of times this year I’ve found myself doing so and have noticed how it begins to quickly affect me. So I get back on the wagon of putting the good stuff in and letting action rather than reaction define my days.

Now that does not mean I’m walking around with my head in the clouds; I know that we are in the midst of troubling times and this uncertainty can bring a feeling of imbalance and fear. Thing is, I cannot control the outcome…and none of us can. I can’t predict the future and neither can anyone else. So I focus on activities. I go to work on what my family needs from me today, what you guys need as our valued Members, and what Buffini & Company needs as a company. Because that’s my job!

It is not my job to grind my teeth in frustration or disapproval. Neither is it my job to read comments on the economy from every crank out there with web access. My job is clear and that helps me stay focused.

A recession is a terrible thing to waste. Spring has sprung and there’s work to be done. So write your list, get to work and let’s focus on what we can do to make this a great first quarter

It’s a good life!

The best thing since peanut butter?

Are you Blitzing today? We’re headed toward the midpoint and it might feel like you can coast a little but don’t give in to the temptation. Keep up the intensity – there are just a few weeks of Blitzing to go.

I like to share some of the stories we hear from you so here’s a great one from Guy Pfister in Arizona. He reckons The Blitz could give PB a run for its money:

“Congrats to Buffini & Company for coming up with the best new thing since peanut butter! This works on so many levels. The road map is fantastic, easy to follow, and enthusiastic! The support is unbelievable...In any event, 10 referrals in the first two weeks….”

Or how about this from Louise Ducharme in Maine:

“…It is Valentine’s Day and I am absolutely fired up! …Just this week, I gave three referrals, received four, one of which already turned into a new listing and one new buyer - I have a pending sale since yesterday that will bring me three transactions.  C’est vraiment la belle vie!! It is the good life! Happy Valentines Day, A bientot!”

Just five weeks into The Blitz and you guys have made 556,419 phone calls! Not only that you did 261,428 Pop-Bys, wrote 500K+ notes and generated…39,875 referrals! I think it’s time to take a second to celebrate. Is this the kind of stuff you read about in the newspaper? Unfortunately I don’t think it is. Keep going – you are impacting your local economy and are standard bearers for what it means to be an entrepreneur.

It’s a good life!
