The thing we all crave

Humans have such a strong desire for community - we want to be connected to a group of like-minded individuals and it’s been that way since ancient times. Yet in America in 2012 - in what is arguably the most advanced and open culture in the world - there is a lack of community. Today if we know the person next-door we are considered somewhat open! We drive home, open the garage door, drive in and close the door. Modern life has become impersonal, families are spread out and our sense of connection is lost. But that does not mean people are closed off to community. We still have that desire to bond with others - and often just need the opportunity presented to us.

Now any of you who’ve been to one of our events or through one of our training programs have heard me say this stuff before. But I say it as a reminder. As a service provider, you have the opportunity to be a catalyst for community in your database. You are the spark – or the straw that stirs the drink. You’re not the drink; you’re the one who makes things go. So be the straw – get out in your community and be a catalyst for change. Connect people, bring them together and in doing so build a great business with clients you love.

Northern California Litmus Test

This week myself, Joe Niego and a team from Buffini & Company spent a few days in Northern California for our Turning Point event. Monterey is one of my favorite places to spend time and is as familiar to me as our home in San Diego. In the early years of Buffini & Company, this charming pacific coast town was the scene for many an event that made the difference in how we did as a company. In a way, it became our litmus test for how the country was doing as a whole.

And things haven't changed too much throughout the years.

If the fired-up energy, great attitude and on point focus of this week's audience is anything to go by, America's back! And it's ready to work. As Joe and I shared content through the two days of the event, we were both struck by how positive and upbeat the crowd was. Our Members are typically a pretty positive lot anyway...but it was inspiring to see the osmosis happen with those new faces who were joining us for the first time. We had a great time with you guys. And we're looking forward to doing it all again in Vancouver in May.

One week and counting...

Need I say more?

Last week I met many of our Members in Texas and Chicago, and something I heard over and over about the Blitz program was how much you love having the activities laid out – having a simple plan to follow. And who doesn’t want to follow a simple plan? The results say it all because thousands of agents across North America enrolled in the Blitz are having a productive quarter:

  • “We have 5 under contract with 1 closed this week. I am already up 8 transactions from this time last year. I know it is because of all the preparation, pipeline additions and client care we have been doing for the Blitz. Thanks for your help and encouragement!” - Debbie C.

What are we waiting for?

Isn’t there a certain type of client you enjoy working with? The kind of client who inspires you to give your best and is a complete joy to serve? 

Working by referral doesn’t just provide a structured system to generate leads; it provides the framework to deliver the best quality leads. The great news is that it takes no more time, energy or resources to find this type of “A” client you love than it does to find the very opposite! The even better news is that it is less time consuming and far more enjoyable to serve an "A" than it is to serve a “D.” 

The characteristics of an "A" client are pretty typical: they’re usually someone who trusts you or there is some level of established trust there already. The reason being - someone they trust has referred them to you.

So if we all agree that there’s a certain type of client we want and a certain type we don’t want, the question is what are we waiting for? Our Members enrolled in the Blitz program are outperforming the recovery by getting out there and generating referred leads. So if you know of someone who needs a helping hand in his or her business, we’ll be happy to lend one!

A groundswell is forming…

Let me ask you a question: Who’s reaping the benefits of your time, energy and resources? With home sales increasing, interest rates still dropping and people seeing the benefit of having an agent like never before, are you making sure you are at the forefront of their mind if they’re thinking about buying or selling a home?

Why New Year's resolutions do work...

How many people do you know who never set New Year’s resolutions because they say they don’t work? The reality is, resolutions actually do work because goals work…and a goal is simply a dream with a deadline. So when someone tells you they don’t set goals, they’re telling you they don’t dream anymore. Dreams and goals are things that make life worth living. So hopefully when you set this year’s resolutions, you commit them to writing.

Our job at Buffini & Company is to Coach you up and hold you accountable so your dreams become reality. As we kick off the New Year, let’s make 2010 our best year ever.

Kids back in school. Agents back at work. All is right with the world!

Labor Day has come and gone and the kids are back in school. The dog days of summer are giving way to the fall but it’s not just about homework and sports…this is the time to get serious about lead-generation, sales activities and ramping up the care you provide to your clients.

Congratulations, you’ve avoided the Slump!

In a normal real estate year, the typical real estate brokerage experiences anywhere from an 18 to a 22% drop. This statistic is one of the reasons we developed the Summertime Surge; I don’t know anyone who can afford that kind of slump right now.
